The Zamfara State government is seeking approval for an expenditure of N1,378,000,000 (One Billion, Three Hundred and Seventy-Eight Million Naira) to combat the escalating insecurity, banditry, and wanton destruction of lives and property plaguing the state.
The request, outlined in a document addressed to “Your Excellency, The Executive Governor, Government House Gusau,” highlights the dire need for immediate intervention to restore peace and socio-economic prosperity.
The memo, signed by Mai Abubakar M. Nakwada, Secretary to the State Government, on August 6, 2024, describes the current level of insecurity as a “dangerous cancer worm that has ravaged the fabrics of our social and psychological existence.” It emphasizes the urgency of the matter, urging the Governor to approve the proposal to finance the state government’s reconciliation program with bandits.
