Washington D.C. – The White House has announced a landmark resources agreement with Ukraine, touted as a pivotal step in securing the nation’s “peaceful and sovereign future,” with Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt attributing the deal’s success to “dealmaker-in-chief” Donald Trump.
In an unusually celebratory briefing, Leavitt described the partnership as “first of its kind, historic,” emphasizing the United States’ newfound economic stake in Ukraine’s long-term prosperity.
“This partnership represents the United States taking an economic stake in securing a free, peaceful and sovereign future for Ukraine,” she stated, revealing that the agreement establishes a fund to receive 50% of royalties, license fees, and similar payments from Ukraine’s natural resource projects.

The deal’s core mechanism, according to Leavitt, involves the US directly benefiting from Ukraine’s natural resource wealth, aligning American economic interests with the country’s stability. She highlighted that this financial entanglement will ensure US dedication to ukraine’s future.
“This will ensure the long-term economic success of Ukraine, that the United States will greatly benefit from,” Leavitt explained.
Furthermore, Leavitt reiterated Trump’s consistent stance on the conflict, saying, “Trump has been clear from the beginning: he wants the killing to end.” This statement suggests the White House views the agreement as a significant stride towards de-escalation, despite the ongoing hostilities.
The tone of the briefing indicated a significant achievement for the administration, particularly for Trump, who has expressed frustration with the protracted conflict.
The deal’s implications, however, remain to be fully understood, particularly concerning its long-term impact on the region’s geopolitical landscape and the ongoing war with Russia.
Critics are already raising questions about the ethics of profiting from a nation at war.
