Tory Party to unseat Kemi Badenoch over alleged incompetence

Just six months after taking over from Rishi Sunak, Kemi Badenoch’s leadership of the UK Conservative Party is under serious threat.

According to reports from Bloomberg, more than two dozen Conservative MPs and party officials have expressed doubts about Badenoch’s ability to lead the Tories into the next general election, scheduled for 2029.

Behind the scenes, support appears to be quietly shifting toward right-wing shadow justice secretary Robert Jenrick as a likely successor.

The internal unrest is fueled by disastrous polling numbers and rising frustration over Badenoch’s failure to revive the party’s fortunes — particularly as Nigel Farage’s Reform Party continues to gain traction with voters. While Jenrick has publicly backed Badenoch in recent interviews, insiders reveal that momentum is steadily building against her.

The upcoming local elections this Thursday are expected to intensify the pressure. Analysts are predicting a near-total collapse for the Conservative Party, following the historic defeat in last year’s general election. Current polls show the Tories trailing both Labour and Reform, raising serious doubts about Badenoch’s ability to lead a comeback.

Originally, Conservative figures hoped to give Badenoch until 2026 to show improvement. However, devastating local election results could force a leadership challenge much sooner. A senior party insider described Badenoch’s position as being in the “political death zone,” with donors and MPs already strategizing for her replacement.

Badenoch’s leadership has been marred by controversy. Despite securing a legal victory on defining women by biological sex, critics argue she has overly focused on culture war issues rather than core concerns like crime and immigration. Her lackluster performances at Prime Minister’s Questions have also emboldened Labour leader Keir Starmer and contributed to her waning authority.

With donor confidence collapsing and staff cuts looming, Badenoch’s grip on leadership looks increasingly tenuous and her time at the helm may soon be over.
