Speaking in a recent interview, the singer said Lagos has become a major global hotspot, attracting foreigners not just for tourism, but for its cultural influence and vibrant lifestyle. “Last December, there were more Americans than Nigerians in Lagos, bro. I was like, what are you doing here?” he said, expressing surprise at the influx of foreign visitors.
Davido added that the narrative has completely flipped from the past when Nigerians were eager to leave for cities like New York. “Back in the day, we used to be like, ‘We’re going to America!’ Now it’s like, ‘We ain’t got time, bro!’” he joked.
The hitmaker also highlighted Nigeria’s dominance in global fashion and creativity. “If you go to Paris Fashion Week, bro, I’m telling you, like 80% of the models — African. 80% of the creative directors,” he said.
According to Davido, it’s not just music, the entire African culture is taking center stage on the world scene.
