The End Of The Illegal Reigns Of Julius Abure And The Beginning Of A New LP

The Labour Party Press Conference of May 7, 2025 marks the commencement of the implementation of the roadmap for the rebranding of the party. As the Supreme Court judgement of April 4,2025 sacked Julius Abure, all the organs of the LP under him were equal sacked at all levels of the party, from the national level down to the ward level.

Julius Abure ceased to parade as the National Chairman of the Labour Party immediately after the pronouncements of the Appeal filed by Nenadi Usman-led LP NCC in the Supreme Court on April 4,2025.The CTC of the Supreme Court red by Justice John Inyang Okoro, JSC stands as the law compelling all the institutions of the government e.g. INEC,Police, Office of the Attorney-general of the Federation, etc to act in line, to save the Labour Party from Julius Abure’s illegal reigns of maladministration.

By implications, Abure and his leadership structures in the LP are, in line with the outcome of the Supreme Court judgement of April 4,2025,dissolved legally. Abure is now a personae-non-grata in the Labour Party and its leadership.The weighty wrath of the law is now wielded on Julius Abure.

 

The Labour Party is now led by Nenadi Usman-led National Caretaker Committee NCC and the National Extra-ordinary Committee. The National leadership body of the Labour Party is to appoint the states’ executive committee of the party in all the 36 States of the Federation and Abuja, FCT. The new National leadership committee of the LP shall conduct ward, LGs,States and zonal congresses, culminating in the conduct of National Convention, 2025 for the party.

The new roadmap, as enshrined in the LP Press Conference released by the Acting National Chairman of the party, Senator (Dr) Nenadi Usman, takes the first stage of implementation with setting up of mechanism for membership registration and certification of the party’s members.Such exercise will prepare the party, LP for congresses, culminating in National Convention, 2025.

 

The Labour Party appeals for unity of purpose and spirit of patriotism on all its membership and stakeholdership for a smooth transitional process in the party. This transitional process of the Labour Party will usher in National Convention and new leadership to the party.

 

As a mass political party, the Labour Party extends hand of fellowship to patriotic and democratic citizens in other political parties, to join in the task of nation-building while enjoying right leadership at party level.

As we bid Julius Abure farewell, still wishing him the best in his future endeavour, we appeal to all to play by the rule, and in line with the LP’s constitution.
