Hon. Gideon Boako, Member of Parliament for Tano North, questioned the Minister of Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwame Agbodza, about the progress of a road project during a session on the floor of parliament.
Addressing the members of the parliament, Hon Boako stated that, despite the contractor being on the project for some time, the percentage of work done is below 10%.
According to him, the Road and highways Minister has issued letters to the contractor to return to the site; otherwise, the contract will be terminated. Hon. Boako asked the Minister to assure when, in his estimation, the contractor is expected to return to the site.

He added that, there are no ongoing activities on the road. Work that began has been left abandoned while it rains. Gutters meant to be completed are not finished and have turned into large gullies causing issues in the community.
Hon. Boako urged the Minister to provide assurance on when the contractor is expected to return to the site to continue work.
Responding to the question raised by Hon. Boako, Hon. Kwame Agbodza revealed that it is very disappointing to see a contractor not working effectively on a project of such magnitude and significance after being awarded the contract. The contractor has only carried out about 2% of the project. As Hon. Agbodza described, the contractor’s attempts to work on the site have sometimes made the situation worse.
According to him, the ministry is in the final stages of encouraging the contractor to abide by the terms of the contract, and If the contractor fails to comply, the ministry may have no choice but to terminate the contract and engage a more capable contractor to continue the work.
Hon. Agbodza expressed sympathy with his colleagues and wants to work together to address the issue within the shortest possible time.
