The Member of Parliament for Salaga and a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Hon. Hajia Zuwera Ibrahimah, has expressed her gratitude to Russian delegates for sustaining and strengthening the relationship between Ghana and Russia at Technology Forum in Novosibirsk Region where they discussed about women empowerment issues.She also commended the Minister of State for making time to participate in the forum.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Hajia Zuwera highlighted the historical bond between Africa and Russia. She noted that since the Berlin Conference, Russia did not partake in the colonization of Africa, emphasizing that no African country was colonized by Russia.

She further pointed out that while Africa endured the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade and colonization, Russia remained uninvolved, which, according to her, naturally aligns Africa with Russia in global partnerships.

“At every turn, when Africa has been exploited or abused, Russia has stood by us,” she stated emphatically during her presentation.

Hon. Hajia Zuwera also expressed Ghana’s delight in joining the Annual Conference, describing it as an eye-opening and significant engagement. She underscored that Ghana’s friendship with Russia was built on natural inclinations and mutual respect.

She recalled that the relationship began with initial contact, followed by a visit to Accra, which was soon reciprocated with a visit to Moscow. “This demonstrates the enduring nature of the partnership,” she remarked, adding that the most lasting relationships are built through face-to-face and personal contact.
