PRU EAST MP RAISE ALARM OVER PROPERTY SELLING SCAMS TARGETING YOUNG GHANAIANS

The Member of Parliament for Pru East, Hon Emmanuel Kwaku Boam, has expressed deep concern about the increasing trend of fraudulent property sales in Ghana.

 

In a recent session of parliament, Hon Boam highlighted the alarming number of young individuals in his constituency who have fallen victim to this heinous crime. He emphasized the need for government intervention in collaboration with neighboring countries, such as Cote d’Ivoire, where these illegal activities are known to occur.

Hon Boam also shared the distressing case of a teacher who was lured into selling his house and disappearing, leaving his family and community in distress. His urgent plea to the government is to take immediate action in bringing these victims back to their country and holding the perpetrators accountable.

Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa urged parliamentarian to educate citizens about the dangers of falling prey to scammers, particularly those promising lucrative opportunities abroad.

According to him Ghanaians should be wary of selling their properties to fund travel plans that may lead to exploitation. Ghanaians should work with official embassies and channels when traveling abroad to avoid irregular migration.

The Minister stressed the risks associated with irregular migration and the importance of following legal pathways for travel.

By educating citizens about these risks, parliamentarian can play a crucial role in preventing further cases of human trafficking and exploitation.

He assured Parliament that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with national and international security agencies, is intensifying efforts to dismantle the trafficking networks and implement lasting solutions to what he described as a “deeply troubling trend.”
