Details of Parambo Sawaba Water Supply System
- The Parambo Sawaba community has an abandoned small-town water supply system.
- The system uses surface water from Lake Volta, with treatment plants located in Parambo Nsuoano.
- It includes a 180 cubic meter concrete high-level tank and UPVC transmission and distribution pipe networks.
What’s Needed;
- Rehabilitation Needed: Major rehabilitation is required to revive the water supply system, including reconstruction of the intake and control room.
- Groundwater Challenges: Using groundwater in Parambo and surrounding Sawaba is challenging due to potential bacteriological contamination and low usage of boreholes.
Project Plans;
The Ministry and Community Water and Sanitation Agency plan to rehabilitate and expand the Parambo Sawaba water system under the rural water sector as part of the National Infrastructure development program.
Construction Duration: Eighteen calendar months once funds are secured.
Project Proposal: Includes reconstructing the abandoned filtration system into a rapid sand filtration system, installing an integrated purifier, constructing new floating intakes, a new water treatment plant, and laying about 25,000 meters of HDPE transmission pipeline and 18,000 meters of distribution pipe networks.
Coverage: The project aims to cover Parambo Sawaba and Prane, the district capital of Pru West Constituency.
According to Hon. Emmanuel Kwaku Buam, implementing this project will address the water demand for the Parambo Sawaba-Prang area for the next 35 years. This will subsequently enhance well-being in these respective areas.
The planned rehabilitation and expansion aim to improve access to safe water.
This aligns with goals of increasing potable water access in beneficiary districts under the Sustainable Rural Water and Sanitation Project (SRWSP).
