John Quaye, speaking in an interview with Accra-based Adom FM on May 23, 2025, revealed that the community had been abuzz with rumors of Prof. Amedeker’s disappearance, with initial speculation pointing towards a possible kidnapping.

This, Quaye explained, was not entirely unexpected, as the revered lecturer had reportedly been receiving threats from unidentified individuals within the community prior to his death.

What has left residents and authorities alike baffled is the apparent ease with which the alleged perpetrator gained access to Prof. Amedeker’s room, given the lecturer’s reputation for being extremely cautious and circumspect in his personal dealings. Quaye tragically recounted the grisly findings, suggesting that Prof. Amedeker was first incapacitated with a hard, blunt object before his throat was brutally slashed.

The suspect in this heinous crime has been identified by Quaye as a local actor popularly known as “Fii.” Police records later confirmed the suspect’s identity as Joshua Karry Authur.

The alleged perpetrator then reportedly buried Prof. Amedeker’s body in a dug-out hole.

Adding to the macabre scene, Quaye described the challenges faced by police when they arrived to investigate. Authorities reportedly encountered significant difficulty in accessing the deceased’s room, ultimately resorting to breaking portions of the entrance gate to gain entry into the compound.

The community is grappling with the shock and sorrow of Prof. Amedeker’s untimely and brutal death. The ongoing investigation by the police aims to unravel the full circumstances of this tragedy and bring all those responsible to justice.

The motive behind such a gruesome act, particularly the alleged removal and concealment of organs, remains a disturbing enigma that authorities will undoubtedly be working to solve.
