ABUJA – The Nigeria Police Force has announced significant breakthroughs in its fight against kidnapping and illegal firearms, arresting two suspected kidnappers, rescuing seven victims, and recovering a cache of arms and ammunition in separate operations across Niger, Plateau, and Taraba states.
In Niger State, police and local security teams rescued seven kidnapped individuals unharmed after a gun battle in Tungan-Boka village, Mashegu LGA.
In Plateau State, a raid on a criminal hideout in Jos North LGA led to the recovery of 500 rounds of 7.65mm ammunition from an abandoned vehicle, linked to a recent homicide.

In Taraba State, separate intelligence-led operations resulted in the arrest of Lookman Tanko and Peter Apai. Recovered from them were two AK-47 rifles, two pump-action rifles, one long gun, and an AK-47 magazine.
The arrested suspects are currently under investigation and will face charges in court.
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, lauded the officers’ bravery and urged them to remain steadfast in dismantling criminal networks. He also called on the public to provide information to aid ongoing investigations.
