Human rights group, the Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice has raised alarm over the alleged plan by the Oyo State Police Command to eliminate the pro-democracy and human rights activist, Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman by subjecting him to inhuman torture at their custody at the State Command, Eleyele Ibadan.

Part of their plan was to place guns before Comrade Sulaiman and take his photograph by showing the public that Sulaiman was an armed robber as directed the Police by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain, Mr. Seye Famojuro in Oyo State.

 

The source within the State Command of the Nigeria Police has told the human rights group leadership that the group should act fast to tell the whole world about ongoing the inhuman treatment of the activist sulaiman by the men of the c, Oyo State Command.

According to the statement issued by CHRSJ’s Assistant General Secretary  (AGS), Pastor Micheal Agaasi and made available to newsmen on Thursday, disclosed that the leadership and members of the group in collaboration with notable human rights groups in Nigeria,had concluded arrangement to address a World Press Conference on Friday.

Pastor Agaasi equally disclosed that the World Press Conference would afford the human rights groups the opportunity to inform the whole world about the prevailing human rights violation of the Nigeria Police on the illegal arrest and unlawful detention and inhuman torture of Activist Sulaiman and 18 innocent Nigeria citizens in their custody as regard their plan on the lives of the innocent Nigerians.

 

Similarly, the statement also demanded the immediate release of the Activist Sulaiman and other 18 persons illegally arrested by the police since 9 days ago over their involvement in a protest to fight for their economic right.

 

However, the Police source in Oyo State has further revealed that the Police in order to do the bidding of Seye Famojuro of PDP, have been planning to secretly get detention order to detain activist Sulaiman and 18 others arrested illegally on frivolous allegation of protesting against the Government of Mr. Seyi Makinde beyond the Constitutional stipulated hours unjustly by hiding under the directive of Seye Famojuro, an aide of Governor Seyi Makinde.

While making an enquiry from the Oyo State Government, it was reported that the State government clean its hand from having contacted or directed the Police to arrest anybody who protested against the State government because protest is part of the ingredients of any democracy in any clime and alienable right of every citizen of the country.

 

Whereas, the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ayodele Sonubi was allegedly working secretly for a PDP Chieftain,Mr. Seye Famojuro to arrest and detain any citizen who protested against the bad policy or action of the Seyi Makinde Government, challenging CP Ayodele Sonubi to tell the public the Police Complainant in this constitutional matter.

The group asked rhetorically if the State Government which they protested against its bad action was not making any complaint to the Police, whose interest the CP Ayodele Sonubi was now protecting on this matter of constitutional protest, adding that whether Mr. Seye Famojuro who hails from Osun State has become the Oyo State Government before CP Ayodele Sonubi.

 

The group then, called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Minister of Police Affairs,Chairman,Police Service Commission(PSC) and Inspector General of Police(IGP), Dr. Kayode Egbetokun to remove the CP Ayodele Sonubi as Commissioner of Police in Oyo State with immediate alacrity before he destroyed the remaining reputation of the Nigeria Police Force for being the agent and as well taken directive from a PDP cheiftain, Mr. Seye Famojuro to incarcerrate the renown human rights activist, Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman and 18 others unjustly.

 

The statement further submitted; “The question on the lips of every Nigerians is that what is the interest of the Oyo State Police under CP Ayodele Sonubi on this constitutional matter now when the supposed or acclaimed complainant,Oyo State Government said it did not contact or give any directive to the Police to arrest any protesters on their behalf.

“But the good people of Oyo State just said that they were not suprised because CP Ayodele Sonubi is one of the most corrupted Police officers in the country that is given the constitutionally recognized Police a bad name. They further said that when CP Sonubi held forth as DCP State Criminal Investigation Depattment, Iyaganku, Ibadan, many atrocities were committed which it did not help the Police under the current Inspector General of Police, Dr. Kayode Egbetokun, upon his (Egbetokun) efforts to change the bad perception of the Nigeria public on the Nigeria Police”.
