OSOGBO, NIGERIA – The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has released an open letter to Governor Ademola Adeleke, outlining critical concerns and recommendations regarding the state’s development.
The letter, signed by State Chairman Wole Adedoyin, acknowledges some positive strides while urging the governor to address pressing issues impacting the lives of Osun citizens.
APGA commended the governor’s efforts in ensuring the timely payment of workers’ salaries and pensions, but stressed the urgent need to clear the backlog of gratuities owed to retirees. The party also called for a shift away from over-reliance on federal allocations, advocating for aggressive internally generated revenue (IGR) drives through industrialization, support for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and tourism development.

On the political front, APGA emphasized the importance of a level playing field for all political actors, urging Governor Adeleke to discourage intimidation and suppression of opposition voices. Security concerns were also raised, with the party calling for the empowerment of local security networks and collaboration with federal agencies to combat rising criminal activities.
The letter further addressed critical sectors, including:
- Health: APGA called for comprehensive health sector reform, prioritizing rural outreach and upgrading health centers.
- Infrastructure: The party urged equitable infrastructural development across the state, particularly in neglected communities.
- Agriculture: APGA advocated for the revitalization of agricultural programs to empower farmers and boost food security.
- Youth Unemployment: The party called for expanded and transparent youth empowerment programs.
- Education: APGA stressed the need for holistic education reform, including infrastructure investment and teacher training.
- Artisans and Small Businesses: The party suggested a special microcredit scheme to support these vital economic drivers.
- Civil Service: APGA called for transparent and merit-based promotions and enhanced training for civil servants.
- Housing: The party urged the governor to consider public-private partnerships for affordable housing schemes.
- Environment: APGA advocated for robust environmental policies to address climate change and degradation.
- Tourism and Culture: The party called for a coordinated tourism master plan and the preservation of cultural heritage.
- Traditional Rulers: APGA emphasized the importance of regular engagement with traditional institutions.
- Women and Girls: The party advocated for programs promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment.
APGA concluded the letter by expressing its readiness to support policies and programs aimed at uplifting the people of Osun State, regardless of political affiliation. The party also offered prayers for divine wisdom and strength for Governor Adeleke as he leads the state.
