The only thing that pains me is the loud silence of the Ilorin people over the maltreatment of the Emir in an obvious way and in obvious language.
Late Admiral Mohammed Lawal, of blessed memory, didn’t even move in this direction before being mauled down for “Attacking the Dynasty of Shehu Alimi.” The former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, was touted as being too “Arrogant to the Emir” despite the duo’s recorded respect for the referred seat of traditional power.

Now, we have a “timed” Governor who has repeatedly insulted the Emir by making the Emir rush to the Eid ground multiple times, spearheading the disruption of the Emir’s anointed programme on the grounds of politics.
It even made the news that a letter from the Emir was ignored, not replied to nor responded to, culminating in the shameful disgrace of the Emir by the governor through the limitation of who could grace the Emir’s traditional festival party.
Now, we have a party that has all the paraphernalia of the Emir taken away from the Emir’s court to Alangua’s court, which is quite hilarious.
I am sure a lot of reasons will be given for the Adewole Durbar initiative, but trust me, this is no longer the Emir’s durbar; it is now the Governor’s Durbar.
