A sigh of relief is sweeping across Mushin and its neighboring communities as Lagos State Police, under the decisive leadership of Commissioner of Police Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, have finally captured Wasiu Akinwande, infamously known as “Olori ESO” (King of the Guards). His arrest brings to an end a terrifying 16-year reign of terror that spanned Lagos and extended into other adjoining states.
Akinwande’s name has long been synonymous with fear and brutality. He stood as the mastermind behind a chilling array of heinous crimes, including armed robbery, cold-blooded murders, paid assassinations, extortion, kidnapping, and racketeering.

According to police statements, “He was responsible for organizing and executing series of armed robberies, cold blooded murders, kidnappings and cult-related killings. His reign of terror instilled fear and apprehension in residents and posed a dangerous threat to law and order.”
For years, “Olori ESO” was considered untouchable. Many believed he operated with impunity, as individuals who dared to “squeal” on him often met grisly fates, either at the hands of his ruthless gang or by disappearing without a trace. He was chillingly referred to as “walking EVIL” by those who lived in fear of his influence. The question of how he managed to evade law enforcement for so long, despite being implicated in numerous high-profile atrocities, remains a source of public bewilderment.
The long arm of the law, however, finally caught up with Akinwande. A pivotal raid on his Mushin residence yielded a significant cache of weaponry, revealing the dangerous scale of his criminal enterprise. The recovered items include:
* Two (2) AK-47 rifles
* One (1) K2 Assault rifle
* One (1) Red Ryder rifle
* Three (3) pump action rifles
* Two (2) locally made single-barrel pistols
* Five (5) magazines
* Fifty-seven (57) live cartridges
* Seventy (70) 5.56 live ammunition
* Twenty-seven (27) 9mm ammunition
* One (1) expended 5.56 ammunition
* One (1) dagger
* Three (3) walkie-talkies
* Nine (9) international passports belonging to different individuals
In the wake of Akinwande’s capture, Commissioner Jimoh has publicly affirmed his commitment to pursuing justice. He vowed to apprehend all of “Olori ESO’s” fleeing accomplices, assuring residents that they will face diligent prosecution.
The immediate impact of this arrest is already evident. At least four families have courageously come forward, identifying Akinwande as the suspect responsible for the murders of their children and wards, finally seeing a path towards accountability and closure.
The capture of “Olori ESO” stands as a testament to the renewed vigor of the Lagos State Police Command, marking a significant victory against organized crime and bringing hope for lasting peace to the affected communities.
