In a comprehensive update delivered at the 2025 Ministerial Scorecard Briefing, Hannatu Musa Musawa, Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy, highlighted significant strides made in reimagining Nigeria’s creative and tourism landscape over the past 24 months. The Minister’s presentation underscored a commitment to fostering a data-driven, inclusive, and globally competitive sector.
Musawa revealed impressive figures, including the securing of over $300 million in funding commitments and the creation of more than 257,000 jobs in 2024 alone. A landmark achievement cited was the launch of Nigeria’s first Creative Economy Development Fund (CEDF), alongside the establishment of critical infrastructure projected to support over 2 million jobs.
“Our focus at the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy has remained clear: growth, inclusion, and sustainability,” Musawa stated.

The Ministry has also been actively engaged in reviewing and reforming outdated policies within the culture and tourism sectors, bolstering frameworks for intellectual property rights, and establishing new pathways for Nigerian talents across various creative disciplines, including film, music, fashion, design, and heritage.
Musawa pointed to initiatives such as “Destination 2030” and the Ministry’s rising prominence on the Global Soft Power Index as tangible proof of the international recognition Nigeria’s cultural capital is beginning to garner.
The Minister attributed these achievements to the steadfast support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the “Renewed Hope Agenda,” which, she noted, recognizes the creative, cultural, and tourism sectors as vital drivers for economic diversification, extending beyond mere symbolic entertainment.

While celebrating the progress, Musawa acknowledged that “there is still so much work to be done.” She emphasized the ongoing need for stakeholder support, affirming the Ministry’s commitment to continued engagement, collaboration, and investment in building a creative economy that benefits all Nigerians. “The journey continues,” she concluded.
