Security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed that the military had been closely monitoring the activities of several illicit fuel vendors involved in black market sales.
These individuals reportedly utilized modified fuel tanks in vehicles, such as Gulf cars, to transport substantial quantities of fuel to undisclosed locations. The fuel was then transferred into jerrycans and smuggled into terrorist-controlled territories.
However, their operation was thwarted when troops stormed the filling station, apprehending several suspects who were caught red-handed.
During preliminary interrogations, the suspects reportedly confessed to transporting the fuel towards Pulka and the Cameroon border region, an area known to provide refuge for members of the Ali Ngulde faction of Boko Haram.
The arrested individuals claimed ignorance regarding the identities of the final recipients, stating that individuals from “various destinations” would come to collect the fuel.
This successful operation represents a significant blow to the logistical capabilities of the Boko Haram insurgents and underscores the Nigerian Army’s commitment to cutting off their supply lines.
Investigations are currently underway to identify and apprehend all individuals involved in this illicit operation.
