NDLEA Shuts Down Major Drug Trafficking Hub Disguised as Hotel in Lagos

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully dismantled a massive drug trafficking operation hidden within an 80-room hotel located on Victoria Island, Lagos.

In a statement released on Sunday, April 27, 2025, Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, confirmed the breakthrough operation. Acting on intelligence, operatives raided The Hook Hotel — also operating under the names Caesar Hotel and Caesar Lounge — situated at 16 Waziri Ibrahim Street, off Elsie Femi Pearse Street.

The raid, conducted between Friday, April 25, and Saturday, April 26, led to the seizure of 589 bags of “Canadian Loud,” a highly potent strain of cannabis. The total weight of the drugs amounted to 417.3 kilograms, with an estimated street value exceeding ₦1.04 billion.

Authorities arrested three suspects: Eze Ayitu, Ofuokwu Samuel, and Emmanuel Ameh. Meanwhile, two others — identified as Noble Philip and Kenneth — are still at large, with active efforts underway to apprehend them.

Beyond the massive drug haul, NDLEA operatives also confiscated various assets believed to be proceeds from the illegal trade. These include several vehicles, such as a Toyota Prado Land Cruiser, Toyota Sienna, Volkswagen delivery van, Kia Cerato, and Grand Caravan Dodge. Officers also recovered 74 brand-new television sets, 10 used TVs, 13 refrigerators, and other valuable items during the operation.

Investigations are ongoing, and the NDLEA has pledged to bring all involved parties to justice as they intensify their crackdown on organized drug networks across Nigeria.
