The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered yet another sophisticated drug smuggling attempt, intercepting cocaine concealed inside bottles of body lotion at a courier service facility in Lagos.

 

According to a statement released by Femi Babafemi, NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, the operation was executed on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, by operatives from the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI).

 

During the inspection, NDLEA agents discovered 46 wraps of cocaine, weighing 547 grams, cleverly hidden within a shipment destined for a Middle Eastern country.

 

This interception comes just one week after the agency successfully foiled a similar attempt to smuggle cocaine disguised inside religious books, highlighting the increasing creativity of drug traffickers.

 

On the same day, NDLEA officers also seized an additional consignment containing 1.8 kilograms of pentazocine injection and 60 grams of bromazepam tablets, this time headed for Canada.

 

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying surveillance at courier companies, as drug traffickers continue to exploit logistics channels to export illegal substances.

 

Investigations are ongoing, with authorities determined to track down all individuals linked to these smuggling operations.
