Nigeria’s national electricity grid suffered another collapse on Wednesday, leaving power supply unstable across the country.
The system, which had been generating 2,917.83 megawatts earlier in the morning, dropped drastically to just 1.5 megawatts between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m.
The sharp fall disrupted supply and left many areas without electricity.

Soon after the collapse, an online platform that tracks power distribution in the country announced that efforts were underway to restore the system.
However, electricity distribution companies had yet to release any official update on the situation at the time this report was gathered.
This latest breakdown adds to the recurring challenges of Nigeria’s power sector, which has faced repeated grid failures in recent years.
