SOKOTO/GUSAU –– Hamdiyya Sharif, the outspoken critic of Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, who was declared missing on Tuesday, has been located in critical condition at Bakura General Hospital in Zamfara State.
Her lawyer, Abba Hikima, confirmed her discovery via a Facebook post in Hausa on Wednesday, stating she was accompanied by security personnel.
Hikima earlier on Wednesday revealed on his official Facebook handle that Sharif had been missing since 10:00 am on Tuesday after she left her home in Sokoto to purchase foodstuffs and had not been seen since. The Sokoto State Police Command was immediately notified of her disappearance.

In a recent update, Hikima confirmed that Sharif had been kidnapped, though details surrounding the abduction remain scarce.
His latest post, made on Wednesday, read: “We have been informed that Hamdiyya is in the Bakura General Hospital in Zamfara State. She is in a critical condition. But there are security personnel with her.”

The circumstances leading to Sharif’s abduction and her subsequent discovery in Bakura General Hospital, as well as the nature of her injuries, are yet to be fully disclosed. The presence of security personnel at the hospital suggests an ongoing investigation into the incident.
This development comes amidst heightened concerns for the safety of critics and activists in various parts of Nigeria. Further updates are expected as investigations progress.
