JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA –– South African media personality Minnie Dlamini has released a powerful official statement addressing weeks of public discourse and what she describes as “vile, humiliating, and inexcusable comments” made by Mr. Mukwevho on his podcast.
Dlamini, who received an apology from “Podcast and Chill” via their attorneys, has stated that she will pursue legal recourse.
In her statement, dated May 13, 2025, Dlamini explicitly denied making any negative comments or statements about Mr. Mukwevho. She asserted that her actions were solely to “defend the dignity and integrity of a fellow woman in the industry against vile, objectifying remarks made about her.”

Dlamini expressed profound distress, stating that the situation had caused “years of lies, online harassment, and degrading commentary” in her name. She firmly categorized the issue not as one of ego, but as “systemic misogyny.”
While choosing not to “dignify the specifics with a response,” Dlamini emphasized that engaging in “entertaining or provocative about weaponizing a woman’s body for clout, commentary, or so-called content” was “a grotesque and deeply harmful violation of my dignity, my humanity, and my constitutional rights as a woman.”
Regarding the apology from “Podcast and Chill,” Dlamini found it insufficient. “An apology, offered only after the damage is done and reputations are on the line, is not a meaningful act of accountability, especially when it comes from a platform that has made misogyny part of its brand,” she wrote. She further criticized it as “a reflection of values consistently displayed and defended by the show and its host,” and an attempt to “centre their own reputational damage rather than the trauma inflicted on others.”
Dlamini confirmed her intention to “continue to pursue legal recourse,” asserting her responsibility as a public figure and a mother to act not only for herself but for “every woman whose dignity is violated in the name of content and entertainment.”
She extended gratitude to her supporters, stating, “Your solidarity has been a source of strength and a reminder that this is about more than just me. It’s about every woman who has ever been publicly degraded, digitally humiliated, or silenced through shame.”
The media personality highlighted that “this moment has once again spotlighted the disturbing normalization of misogyny in the entertainment industry and online platforms.” She called for “systemic change” and accountability, urging a collective decision on “what kind of public discourse we are willing to defend – or dismantle.”
Concluding her statement, Dlamini emphasized the personal toll, noting, “This entire episode has caused harm not only to me but to those closest to me. Innocent people.” She reiterated her resolve, declaring, “That said, I will not allow this to pass without consequence. Because it’s not just about my name – it’s about protecting the dignity of women everywhere.”
The statement was signed, “With love and resilience, Minnie Dlamini.”
