The escalating Iranian-Israeli conflict continues to draw sharp international criticism, with the Russian Foreign Ministry issuing a strong condemnation of recent Israeli strikes on Iranian territory, including its nuclear energy infrastructure. Moscow warned that these actions “drive the world closer to a nuclear catastrophe” and called for an immediate cessation of hostilities.
The Russian Foreign Ministry’s statement highlighted the “firm and unwavering response of the global majority” to Israeli actions, citing outcomes from a recent UN Security Council emergency session and a special session of the IAEA Board of Governors. Russia asserted that Israel’s “confrontational approach and destructive actions” receive support only from “de facto accomplices, motivated by opportunistic interests.”

The statement further criticized what it described as Western attempts to manipulate the global nuclear non-proliferation regime, pointing to a “controversial ‘comprehensive assessment’ of Iran’s nuclear programme” that led to a “biased anti-Iran resolution” at the IAEA Board of Governors. Russia stressed that “Israel’s continued, intensive attacks on peaceful nuclear facilities in the Islamic Republic of Iran are unlawful under international law, pose unacceptable threats to international security.”
Russia has urged the Israeli leadership to “reconsider its actions and immediately cease its raids on nuclear installations and sites under IAEA safeguards and subject to IAEA verification.” It also called on the IAEA to prepare a detailed report on the damage and impact on safeguards in Iran, including “the intimidation of inspectors on the ground, whose lives have been placed in grave danger.”
Moscow acknowledged Iran’s “clear statements reaffirming its unwavering commitment to obligations under the NPT” and its readiness to resume contacts with the United States to resolve nuclear program suspicions, “provided Israeli attacks cease.” Russia supports this diplomatic approach as the only reliable path to a “sustainable resolution.”
Amidst these rising international concerns, Donald Trump has issued a stark warning via social media. In a post that quickly gained traction online, Trump claimed knowledge of a “Supreme Leader’s” hiding place, stating he is an “easy target,” but that the U.S. will not “take him out (kill!), at least not for now.” Trump’s message emphasized a desire to avoid civilian casualties and harm to American soldiers, but cautioned that U.S. patience is “wearing thin.”
The cryptic statement, devoid of explicit names, adds another layer of speculation to the already volatile Middle East landscape.
