IBADAN, OYO STATE –– An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Thursday ordered the remand of Femi James, 34, in a correctional facility on allegations of raping three sisters and an additional victim.

James, whose address was not disclosed in court, faces a charge of rape.

 

The Magistrate, Mrs. Adebola Adeola, did not take the defendant’s plea due to a lack of jurisdiction. She instructed the police to forward the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.

The case has been adjourned until June 19 for mention.

Earlier in court, Prosecutor Sgt. Kehinde Olarotimi informed the court that the alleged offenses occurred between 2017 and 2025, in the Akobo area of Ibadan. He stated that the defendant had unlawful carnal knowledge of the three sisters and one other individual without their consent.

 

The prosecutor added that the alleged offense contravenes Section 358 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
