Most Nigerians swim daily in religious madness, placing blame of their ineptitude and incompetence on God – Azowue, O. E. (2025)
It is very wrong from every perspective for a certified government organization to blame God when displays high level of incompetence in its assigned role – Azowue, O. E. (2025)
Most Nigerians were quick to blame the massive failure of the candidates that sat for the 2025 JAMB examination on their addiction to social media without first asking some salient questions, and understanding the conditions under which these candidates wrote the exam; this is not mentioning the readiness and actual competence of the examination body.

Most parents who saw the high level of incompetence being displayed by JAMB authorities during the cause of the examination, especially parents from South-East States protested against the supposed mass failure of their wards, and demanded a review of the examination process.
Unfortunately, instead of the JAMB authority, especially the Registrar of JAMB to consider the merit of the protesting parents; he lambasted their effrontery for questioning the competency of the examination body – JAMB under his watch; and the Minister of Education who should have done better also alluded that the mass failure of JAMB candidates during the examination was an indication that the body has been able to checkmate examination malpractice, and applauded the leadership of JAMB for doing a great job. This is rather very unfortunate!
For the same JAMB Registrar that had earlier claimed that the examination body was infallible to tender what I cannot rightly describe as an apology to Nigerians when major stakeholders in the education sector decided to intervene and ask for a review of the process in the South-Eastern States and Lagos where the outcry of the body’s incompetent display during the cause of the examination was prominent, was rather too shameful to stomach.
The JAMB authority in its supposed apology to Nigerians and the candidates who sat for the exam but were shortchanged by the system under the guise of network glitches that, ‘man proposes but God disposes’ was the height of insult and show of glaring incompetence on the side of the publicity department of the body. If one may want to ask, at what point did God dispose of the proposition of the JAMB candidates? How did God come into the picture of the systematic failure of the JAMB network system? Nigerians are still waiting for the Minister of Education to recant on his earlier statement that the JAMB system showed that the candidates who experienced massive failure was as a result of the ability of the examination body to curb the gap of examination malpractice and not the failure of JAMB authority or its system, or both.
It is unfortunate that Nigeria as a country has continued to make name for itself in negative light in the global system, and the present system failure of JAMB has further given credence to the argument that the examination body has outlived its relevance. That is to say that JAMB as a body should be scrapped and students who have the required pass marks in the relevant subjects in WAEC should be allowed to apply directly to their schools of choice rather than undergoing the JAMB obvious failed examination system. For me, this is the only way out of a repetition of such a monumental national disgrace which the JAMB body has caused the entire people of Nigeria in its present display of incompetence.
