Malari Village Horror: Woman arrested for Fatal Acid Attack on Infant

Malari village, Soba Local Government Area, is reeling from a shocking incident where a three-month-old baby tragically lost his life after allegedly being fed acid.

 

The Kaduna State Police Command has taken into custody Zaliha Shuaibu, the child’s co-wife, in connection with the heinous act that transpired on May 13, 2025.

ASP Mansir Hassan, the Kaduna Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest, stating that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the Soba Division led the investigation.

The incident occurred within the shared family residence of the suspect, her husband, and the baby’s mother, Maryam Ibrahim.

 

Trouble escalated when Maryam briefly left her baby to use the bathroom. Upon returning, she found her infant with Zaliha. After receiving her baby back, Maryam noticed the child was in severe distress, exhibiting foaming at the mouth and a visible injury on the neck. Despite immediate medical attention at a nearby village hospital, the infant was pronounced deceased.

In a disturbing confession, Zaliha Shuaibu admitted to giving the baby acid, reportedly with the assistance of her husband’s younger brother, Lawal Muhammad. Lawal is currently evading arrest, with Zaliha claiming he supplied the acid used in the crime.

CP Rabiu Muhammad, Commissioner of Police in Kaduna State, has pledged a comprehensive investigation to ensure that all perpetrators are brought to justice. He reiterated the command’s commitment to tracking down the fleeing suspect and delivering justice for the deceased infant.

 

This case serves as a grim reminder of the need for heightened vigilance and intervention in cases of potential domestic conflict.
