A 61-year-old man, Olalekan Ogunmakin, has lost his life after tyres that pulled out from a moving truck crushed him to death in the Alaka area of Lagos State.

Ogunmakin who is attached to the office of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) in Ijora, was heading to a location in the state when the tyres from the truck rammed into him on Monday, May 27.

A Punch correspondent learnt that the impact of the collision caused Ogunmakin to sustain varying degrees of injury and was seen lying motionless on the ground.

In a bid to rescue him, people who were at the scene of the accident rushed towards his direction and rushed him to a hospital.

A source, who does not want his name mentioned for fear of victimisation, said the driver of the truck did not wait to ascertain Ogunmakin’s state, adding that when the LAWMA official was rushed to the hospital, a doctor on duty confirmed him dead.
