In a heartwarming act of compassion and national service, Citizen Eye Ghana (CITEG) has donated an amount of GH₵20,000 to the parents of a 12-year-old girl suffering from a critical liver condition.

The donation, which will go directly towards the child’s medical treatment, was made possible through the generous intervention of the Chief of Staff of Ghana, Julius Debrah.

 

According to the President of Citizen Eye Ghana, Alex Tetteh, the donation resulted from a personal appeal made to the Chief of Staff, who responded swiftly and wholeheartedly.

Mr. Tetteh expressed profound gratitude to Mr Debrah, describing his support as both humbling and exemplary.

 

“This is the first time since our formation in 2017 that a sitting public official has contributed to our humanitarian efforts,” Mr. Tetteh said.

“Hon. Julius Debrah has set a noble precedent for leadership, one that focuses on humanity and service, not looting State funds.”

 

During the donation ceremony, Mr. Tetteh called on all public officials to emulate this shining example, urging them to contribute meaningfully to social causes that impact the lives of ordinary Ghanaians.

He emphasized that true leadership is measured not by luxury or status, but by one’s willingness to uplift the vulnerable.

 

“Politicians who support causes like these, who show that they care and are willing to act are the ones who deserve to be given priority during elections,” Mr. Tetteh remarked.

“We need a new generation of leaders who choose compassion over corruption and service over self-enrichment.”

 

He further pledged that Citizen Eye Ghana will continue its nationwide outreach efforts, aiming to support more patients across various hospitals in the country.

He also revealed that the organization’s prison donation program will soon be expanded to reach more inmates and facilities, underscoring CITEG’s enduring commitment to social justice and humanitarian service.

 

The parents of the young girl, visibly emotional, thanked both Citizen Eye Ghana and the Chief of Staff for what they described as a life-changing intervention.

Their heartfelt words echoed a broader public sentiment of appreciation and hope for more such collaborations between government officials and civil society.
