Sir,

NO PART OF ORHIONMWON LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA WOULD BE CEDED FOR THE CREATION OF ANIOMA STATE.

We respectfully write to bring to your attention the clandestine move by Senator Ned Nwoko who is representing Delta North to influence some of his colleagues in the Nigeria Senate in view to carving out the Igbanke Communities in Orhionmwon Local Government Area for the creation of his self acclaimed Anioma State.

 

It is so disheartening for Igbo people alias Anioma who are indigene of Delta State to be intruding into Edo State matter like the suspension of 3 Enigies in Igbanke Communities. Findings have shown that they are using the 3 suspended Enigie in Igbanke Communities to cause crisis and spread wrong narratives.

For historical purpose, it is imperative to state that Benin Empire ruled over the tribes of the Niger Delta including the Igbo Tribes, Ijaw, Itshekiri, Isoko and Urhobo amongst others. Benin Empire also held sway over the Yoruba tribes of Ondo, Ekiti, Mahin/Ugbo, Hausa, Fulani, and Ijebu and was ruled by Oba of Benin before invasion 1897.

 

It is so shocking to observe how settlers like the Igbo in Igbanke Communities who are miniature in population will want to dominate the Benin speaking people in Igbanke Communities who are the owners of the land. It is worthy to note that Igbanke people are Benin who are indigenous people of Igbanke Communities in ORHIONMWON Local Government Area and under the Rulership of Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolo, Kpolo, Oba Ewuare II CFR Oba of Benin Kingdom.

Thus, the presence of few Igbo in IGBANKE communities just like we have in Akpakpava, Mission Road, New Benin, Uwelu and Evbareke Spare Parts etc is not sufficient enough for them to claim the aforementioned places/communities as their own.

Sadly, it has become a norm for the Igbo who are tenants in Edo to always claim where it is given to them as settlement and this act of usurping and illegally claiming what doesn’t belong to them is a wake up call for us the Benin people to start reviewing the sales of our lands and properties with Igbo People.

With the constant threats and senseless narrative the Igbos are pushing over the suspension of 3 suspended Enigie in Igbanke Communities in preparation for their imaginary state, it is becoming sacrosanct for the 3rd time to appeal to the BENIN TRADITIONAL COUNCIL to immediately summon a stakeholder meeting comprising of community heads, youth leaders and property developers in view to educating/directing them not to sell any land or property to Igbo going forward. This measure, will no doubt checkmate their sinister plans, threat to lives and properties.

 

Consequently, we are appealing to our Representatives at the National Assembly, Edo State Government and Benin Traditional Council to immediately put machinery in motion to halt the proposed carving out of Igbanke Communities for the creation of Anioma State and their threat to kill and destroy properties in Igbanke Communities which they had long planned against the good people of Igbanke.
