Tragedy struck the Aluu community in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State on Thursday morning as news broke of the alleged murder of Reverend Sister Maureen Wecheonwu. The suspect, identified as Kelvin Okoro, was apprehended by the Rivers State Police following swift action by the local vigilante group, OSPAC.
According to multiple reports, Sister Maureen had been persistently requesting Kelvin to repay an undisclosed sum of money he owed her. Witnesses within the community mentioned that the nun had expressed frustration to several locals about the debt, which had remained unsettled for some time.

In a deceptive turn of events, Kelvin reportedly lured Sister Maureen to a remote area under the guise of resolving the financial dispute. Tragically, instead of settling the matter, he allegedly attacked her with a blunt object, robbed her of her possessions, and left her lifeless.
Her body was later discovered by residents, sparking immediate suspicion towards Kelvin, who had fled the area.
OSPAC, the community vigilante group led by Commander Kingsley Wali, organized a manhunt and successfully tracked down the suspect, handing him over to the police.
Confirming the arrest, Police spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko stated that the matter has been officially transferred to the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (SCIID) for deeper investigation.
The shocking incident has left the Aluu community and Rivers State at large in mourning, reigniting conversations around debt disputes, community security, and violence against religious figures in Nigeria.
