How Diyo Ozi Niger died;
“On a Tuesday, 8/05/12
7:40pm we had all just retired from a long day at school, and work buh ofcourse a night doesnt go by without Daddy buying treaties for us.
Yasmin who’s 2 years birthday was exactly a week later started disturbing for ice cream while my mum urged the rest of us to perform ablutions as Daddy leaves to get icecream. We did mahgrib and sat between to pray till isha’a . From afar we could hear daddy cars making the turn to our street we were so happy that we didn’t wanna continue sitting yet.

I and my younger siblings climbed the couch to receive daddy. My step sister and house help already opening the gate also excited.
Buh all of a sudden he stopped, he never stops then we had a voice;
Man 1: Come down oga
Man 2: mr man I said come down (continues chanting)
All of us got confused, what is going on ?
My mum: Ehen i told him not to come home late he stayed an hour late now police will arrest him( In ebira)
We smirked a little
My mum again: Atleast if police arrest him he will spend two days before i even visit him
We all laughed knowing well she can’t even sleep if he was arrested
We got called to reality by the first gun shot
We all froze and started panicking. My sis and househelp immediately ran back inside, my mum rushing outside to see what was that received the second shot right infront of her in form to say “Go back” so she retrieved we became more furious and confused then came the third shot we couldn’t see anything only movement cause the headlights were on so it was harder to see behind the light only movement.

We stayed low while the men murmured and then we heard them shut the door drove in and left.
Everywhere became quiet while my mum started making calls that my dad has been kidnapped
30mins went before my neighbor came in to take us out of the house. I was to lock the small gate unknowingly his corpse was right behind me and that was when i hit his legs cold and powerless I couldn’t say a word my mum noticed the shock on my face and she followed my eyes. That was when we realized…
My neighbor immediately left with the fear that they could still be around, hours went by i and my family stayed in the cold crying and shouting for help, my mum immediately started using her wrapper and hijab to wrap his blown out head crying and wailing as she was soaked in the blood of her lover.
Helpless we stayed till another female neighbor came out to help us she and my mum took him in and dressed his head before people could start coming , followed by sirens, police , army and all that.
Alhamdulilah for the experience now there is nothing that can measure to the shock i felt that day.
They say everything happens for a reason. Buh 13 years later i’m still unable to find a reason to all this.
My whole life was stolen away by the people he called brothers and friends and his people. I Am a native of no land, no people own me and i own no People.”
