FROM HOPE TO HORROR: HOW BOLA AHMED TINUBU BECAME WORSE THAN ABACHA
by Barr. Alari Felix.
Once upon a time—not in ancient history, but in our very own lives,we watched as a man named General Sani Abacha attempted to bend this country to his will. He sought to silence opposition to transform from a military dictator into a civilian ruler. It was a dark moment and time. But it was also a time when brave men and women stood up against tyranny.

And among the brave men that stood up for freedom and democracy was Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Yes, the same Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who now occupies Aso Rock as president.
Back then, Tinubu and his allies formed NADECO the National Democratic Coalition. They claimed to fight for justice, democracy and freedom. They fled the country when Abacha struck. They ran from persecution. And they swore they swore! that they would never let Nigeria fall into the hands of dictatorship again.
But what do we have today?
What is happening to Nigeria right now?
Today, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has become worse than the very dictator he once opposed.
WORSE THAN ABACHA. YES, I SAID IT.
Worse Than Abacha.
Under Abacha, we lived in fear — but the economy functioned. The exchange rate was stable. The price of food was within the reach of the poor and average Nigerian. Living in Nigeria was not a death sentence. The international community may have called us pariahs, but we stood. We survived. There was discipline even if it came with a hard fist.
And look now, look at Nigeria under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
WHAT DO WE SEE?
Suffering. Starvation. Inflation. Corruption!
Since Tinubu came into office , he has done nothing but drag us deeper into poverty and darkness. INEC, our so-called Independent National Electoral Commission, failed us and continue to fail.
A president who governs NOT with the people, but OVER them.
Just like he did in Lagos, Tinubu is turning Nigeria into a “ONE PARTY STATE.” He decides who eats. Who starves. Who lives. Who dies. Who gets contracts. Who faces persecution. He rules not by law —but by personal will.
He has turned the legislature into a sycophantic echo chamber.
He has captured the judiciary—made it kneel to his throne.
And the executive? It is nothing but a fiefdom of friends, cronies, and cousins.
The corruption is mind-blowing. The suffering is inhumane. The betrayal is unforgivable.
Let me ask you: What kind of government allows fuel prices to skyrocket while the minimum wage remains a national embarrassment? What kind of leader tells people to tighten their belts while he flies private jets to meaningless conferences? While children go to bed hungry, the cabal around Tinubu builds empires with stolen public funds.
And while we cry, while we weep, while we beg for food, for water, for hope—he smiles.
He smiles and tells us it’s “reform.”
Reform?
This is not reform — it is war against the poor.
He who once fled tyranny… has now become the tyrant.
He who once fought oppression… now imposes it.
He who once claimed to protect democracy… has now buried it.
And I ask you all here today: Where is the Bola Tinubu of NADECO?
Where is the man who claimed to fight for the people? Where is the promise of democracy?
GONE. DEAD. BURNED IN THE FIRE OF AMBITION AND GREED!
Today, Tinubu rules with something far more dangerous than military force. He rules with deception. With manipulation. With the illusion of democracy.
Abacha ruled with a whip. Tinubu rules with a smile — and that, my friends, is far more deadly.
BUT LET ME END WITH THIS:
The same way we stood up to Abacha…
The same way we raised our voices in the face of bullets and prisons…
The same way our fathers and mothers marched, protested, resisted…
WE MUST RISE AGAIN.
We must not let this nation die in our hands. We must not let our children inherit a graveyard. Bola Ahmed Tinubu may have betrayed us. He may have stolen our votes. He may have hijacked our nation.
BUT HE CANNOT STEAL OUR VOICES!
He cannot silence the truth.
And the truth is this: NIGERIA MUST BE FREE AGAIN!
Thank you, and may God bless the people of Nigeria.
