Ongoing Security Challenges in Gwoza
Despite these achievements, the battle against Boko Haram remains critical. Many of our mothers, sisters, pregnant women, and children are still held captive in areas less than 10 kilometers from Gwoza town. These individuals endure unimaginable suffering, and their plight demands urgent action. The resurgence of Boko Haram attacks in Borno State, as reported in 2025, underscores the need for sustained efforts to secure the release of all captives and restore lasting peace.
Call to Action: Urgent Steps Needed
We urgently call upon all authorities, including the Nigerian military, National Security Adviser, and President Tinubu, to intensify efforts to:
- Rescue remaining captives held by Boko Haram in Gwoza and surrounding areas.
-
Strengthen security operations to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of residents.
-
Collaborate with regional forces, such as the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), to counter Boko Haram’s cross-border operations.
We also appeal to our fellow citizens to:
- Use social media responsibly, avoiding the spread of false or inflammatory information that could undermine security efforts.
-
Unite in support of our leaders, speaking with one voice to advocate for peace and justice in Gwoza.
-
Continue praying for the safe return of all captives and the success of our military forces.
A Unified Path Forward
The fight for peace in Gwoza requires collective resolve. By supporting our leaders, embracing unity, and promoting truthful communication, we can strengthen the foundation for a secure and prosperous Borno State. Let us stand together as a community, guided by faith and determination, to ensure that no one is left behind.
