Those ten members of the House of Representatives who won their seats on the PDP platform in Kaduna in 2023 are now firmly lodged in the APC. Governor Uba Sani seems to have played the role of the ideal political host—everyone has quietly migrated to his corner with little protest and plenty of comfort.
It has also become evident that the APC’s real burden in Kaduna was not the opposition, but El-Rufai himself. With his exit from the stage and quiet slide into political oblivion, people are joining the party with the kind of relief one feels when a noisy neighbor finally relocates.
As for the so-called coalition politics he tried to market, it is now clear that it was more of a traveling drama troupe—perhaps it drew mild applause in Sokoto and Zamfara, but in Kaduna and the wider North West, the audience has since dispersed. The coalition now has no seats, no stage, and certainly no refreshments.
