Governor Soludo Condemns Murder of Aguleri President General, Vows Justice

Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has strongly condemned the “senseless murder” of Barrister Ifeanyi Iloakasia, the President General of the Aguleri community, who was tragically killed alongside his client on Thursday, May 15, 2025. The attack occurred near the Agulu-Nanka boundary area of Anambra State.

 

In a statement released on May 17, 2025, by his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, Governor Soludo expressed his profound condolences to the family and friends of the late Barr. Iloakasia, as well as to the Aguleri community, who are mourning the loss of a man described as a tireless advocate for peace.

Governor Soludo assured the public that despite the heightened concerns following this “cowardly act,” the State Government is taking the matter with “utmost seriousness.” He stated that security agencies are actively working to apprehend the fleeing killers and ensure that justice is served promptly.

In a related security development, Governor Soludo also commended the “bravery of the state security operatives” who successfully repelled an attack on a security checkpoint in Isuofia on the same day, May 15, 2025.

 

While mourning the loss of one gallant officer during the confrontation, the Governor noted that calm has since returned to the area and security operations have been intensified to guarantee the continued safety of communities.

Governor Soludo extended his deep empathy to all those affected by these recent incidents and reiterated his unwavering commitment to maintaining the peace and security currently enjoyed in the state. He urged residents to remain vigilant and to continue cooperating fully with security agencies in the collective effort to eliminate violence from Anambra State.
