Taste the Goodness: EL Blends All-Natural Cold-Pressed Juices
I see a futuristic dark cloud befalling my dear Rivers State upon the return of the suspended Governor Sim Fubara and the State House of Assembly. Governor Sim Fubara will certainly now be forced to walk under the shadows of his political godfather, Nyesom Wike. All his actions and inactions will now have to be authorized by Nyesom Wike whom I have consistently insisted is out to propagate his personal interest and not that of the people of Rivers State he had consistently claimed to be protecting. This is the reality Rivers State and her citizens have been reduced to, and there is nothing anyone can do about it as long as President Ahmed Bola Tinubu remains in power, and has continued to back the obnoxious actions and behaviour of Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister.
The just concluded local government election in Rivers State is a pointer to the above position. Nyesom Wike who tele-guided the outcome of the election deliberately asked his followers to contest for the local government political positions under the APC, and he saw to it that the APC won in 20 out of the 23 local government areas in the state, as a means of appeasing the ego of the president that he is still very much loyal to him. This may also be a grand plan and foundation being laid for him before his formal defection to the APC, with the State House of Assembly set to follow suit when the political coast would have been clear for them to also defect to the APC. With the Governor being caged, he may have little or no other option than to also join the APC in the bid to appease the whims and caprices of the President and his political godfather.
Make no mistake, while the ongoing infrastructural projects being initiated by the Fubara-led administration may continue once he resumed office as Governor of Rivers State, the pace of work will be drastically slowed down as means of reducing the Governor’s popularity and acceptance by the people of Rivers State. A list of Commissioners in the state will be handed over to him by his political godfather as part of the already designed process of checkmating his activities upon his return to office. Unfortunately, he may have little or no choice than to accept this list for peace to reign between him and his political godfather, Nyesom Wike.
Following the tight rope he may be made to navigate through, Governor Fubara may not likely want to contest for a second term in office at the expiration of his tenure in office. He may not want to continue as a slave Governor under the shadows of Nyesom Wike. The question now remains, who will want to step into this unfortunate shoes as Governor of Rivers State that will be willing to do all the biddings of Nyesom Wike without questioning any of his obnoxious demands? Nyesom Wike will have to think out of the box to be able to get an adequate replacement for Sim Fubara at the end of the day. A wrong choice may lead to his eventual downfall and political oblivion.
The truth is that for now, and in the nearest future, the people of Rivers State may have to contend with the excesses of Nyesom Wike, as he is the most prominent political godfather and sheriff in town, and Rivers State has remained his political bargaining chips in the national politics. Though, things may change tomorrow, but for now, Nyesom Wike is the most dominant political figure in Rivers State, and he is ready and willing to do the unthinkable to remain relevant in Rivers and Nigeria politics.
Most of the leading political figures in Rivers State cannot condescend to the kind of draconian politics Nyesom Wike is presently playing, and while this subsists, Nyesom Wike will continue to dominate and dictate the pace and outcome of Rivers State politics. But whether Nyesom Wike likes it or not, he will not remain at the top forever. But while he reigns, the people of Rivers State will continue to suffer because of the domineering disposition of one of their own.
Until then, there was indeed a country!
