Colonel Dan Didiugwu (rtd) has been appointed as the Chairman of the Enugu State Forest Guard, a position that is subject to confirmation by the Enugu State House of Assembly. Concurrently, DCP Olamitisoji Akinbamilayo, PhD (rtd), has been named the Commander of the Enugu State Forest Guard, with his appointment taking immediate effect.
These key appointments are part of the Mbah administrationโs ongoing efforts to reinforce forest and environmental security operations throughout Enugu State. The move aligns with the Governor’s broader commitment to safeguarding lives, property, and the state’s valuable natural resources.
Further structural changes within the Forest Guard were also announced: the office of Commander of the Forest Guard will now supersede the previously existing position of State Coordinator, which has been officially abolished. This restructuring appears aimed at streamlining command and operational efficiency.
The Enugu State Government expressed strong confidence in the capabilities and extensive experience of both Colonel Didiugwu and DCP Akinbamilayo. The administration anticipates that their leadership will be instrumental in repositioning the Forest Guard into a highly responsive and efficient security outfit, better equipped to tackle environmental threats and contribute to overall state security.
The appointments, particularly that of the Commander, are effective immediately, signaling the government’s urgency in implementing these security enhancements.
