Former Labour Party Youth Leader Vows to Oppose Peter Obi in 2027

The Labour Party Had Weathered The Storm: A New LP At Stay

Evang. (Engr.) Chinedu Jude Eloka, the outgoing Assistant National Youth Leader of the Labour Party (LP), has made explosive allegations against Peter Obi and LP Chairman Julius Abure, accusing them of using and abandoning supporters during the 2023 presidential election.

Eloka has publicly declared his intention to actively work against Obi’s potential presidential bid in 2027.

In a scathing statement, Eloka claimed that Obi and Abure deceived the “Obidient” movement, the term used for Obi’s supporters, and exploited their dedication for personal gain. He alleged that campaign efforts were marred by financial mismanagement, with support groups left unsupported and campaign materials being misappropriated.

Eloka further accused Abure of corrupt practices and sidelining key support groups, particularly those from the northern regions, which he believes contributed to the LP’s poor performance in those areas.

He also criticized the party’s handling of polling agents, claiming that many were left unpaid and that the LP lacked adequate representation across the country.

He credited the former National Youth Leader, Engr. (Dr.) Anslem Eragbe, and Dr. Alex Otti’s supporters for the significant votes Obi received in the 2023 election.

Eloka also made claims of political maneuvering in Enugu State, alleging a deal between Obi and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Eloka expressed deep resentment over the perceived betrayal and vowed to retaliate in the 2027 election. He stated, “If Peter Obi contests again for President, I will personally deplete his votes below his score in 2023 General Election.” He also threatened to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) and support President Tinubu’s re-election should Obi be the LP’s candidate in 2027.

Eloka declared his departure from the “Obidient” movement, asserting that it ended after the 2023 election, and emphasized his commitment to the Labour Party. He called for the LP to field a different presidential candidate in 2027 if Obi seeks office again.

The allegations have sparked significant reactions within the LP and among Obi’s supporters. Neither Peter Obi nor Julius Abure have released statements in response to these allegations at this time.
