First two years of His Excellency Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru in office as the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State.

Here are the undeniable reality of His first two years. As an unbiased opposition critic of this administration, I can personally confirm the under listed realities:

✍🏿Upon assuming office, Governor Nwifuru declared a state of emergency on water supply and prioritized the revitalization of the Ezillo Water Scheme. The infrastructure from Ezillo to Umuoghara, including a 40,000 cubic meter reservoir which was fixed, and water reticulation to Abakaliki and surrounding areas was restored. The reservoir, last filled in 2014, is now consistently operational, with fencing completed.

✍🏿On October 4, 2023, I was happy to see Governor Nwifuru inspecting the moribund low-lift facility at Ebonyi River, which supplies raw water to Juju Hill’s high-lift system and ultimately to the Iboko Water Reservoir. I can confirm that the access road has been completed in solid concrete, and constructions of a pump house, generator house, and security house were finalized.

✍🏿In September 2024, an upgrades to the Iboko Water Reservoir, part of the water supply chain from the Ebonyi River low-lift facility, were undertaken to ensure regular water supply to urban and rural areas.

 

✍🏿On May 16, 2025, Nwifuru flagged off the boundary demarcation between Effium and Ezza Effium (Anioma) at Effium Central School in Ohaukwu Local Government Area. He also assented to a peace accord bill passed by the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, resolving a four-year communal clash. Additionally, the governor created five autonomous communities (Effium, Ekeeigwe, Ijem, Alioma, and Ezekuna Alioma) to foster peace.

✍🏿 Revitalization of Offerepe water scheme.

✍🏿Completion of Offerekpe displaced people’s Home.

✍🏿Remodeling of Ebonyi State Hatchery.

✍🏿Resurrecting EBSU back to a praise institution.

✍🏿 Revitalization of Ebonyi pipe production company.

I must commend His Excellency on all the aforementioned.

 

I can also confirm these strategic projects initiated by the Governor but yet to be completed:

👉🏿Izo estate in Ishielu LGA.

👉🏿Workers’ Village.

👉🏿Industrial City.

👉🏿ICT University.

👉🏿Aeronautics University.

👉🏿Izzi Benue 5 span bridge.

👉🏿Izziogo flyover.

👉🏿Agbaja dual-Lane road.

👉🏿Okpoduma nwofe road.

👉🏿Nwofe modern market.

👉🏿Nkaleke to otam road.

👉🏿Dualization of Amachara road.

👉🏿Vanco Flyover

Successful completion of these aforementioned strategic projects will be a thing of joy.

 

I cannot forget to remind you of the areas that got the masses agitated:

💥 Lack of transparency and accountability
💥 Everything seems to be secret.
💥Buying SUVs for National Assembly Members
💥 Unpaid workers minimum wage that caused workers 7 days strike
💥 Unpaid LGA workers and Retirees that have caused several protests
💥Poor road maintenance that has caused road accidents triggering Ohaukwu women protest
💥Run away contractors
💥 Several public outcry of the Governor over his appointees and contractors
💥 Inability of this government to prove the 150 million dollars loan procured by his predecessor for the construction of Abakaliki Ring Road that was mismanaged
💥 Etc…

 

Finally, as a good citizen who wishes this administration success in office, let me highlight the areas he needs to focus aggressively in his remaining two years in office:

❤️Liberating Ebonyi State from any perceived godfatherism system. Prior to 2023 election, Ebonyi People feared that electing FON might be a third tenure for Engr. Dave Umahi. Unfortunately, seemingly their fears has become the reality on ground.

❤️The Governor should reduce the number of Ebonyi children doing hawking business from the Highways.

❤️The Governor is expected to aggressively address poverty and other things that affects poor families. High cost of living. Too much taxations. Etc…

❤️The elected ward councillors needs not to be forgotten. They are the people who will deliver the benefits of this administration to the grassroots. What happened to the N5m that was promised to them for the agric empowerment?

❤️The Governor should address all the key areas that has to do with the needs of the poor masses like tenancy issues, PHCN meter issues, double and too many taxations, Incessant arrests and harassments of Gen Zs in Ebonyi State, maintenance of the already existing infrastructures that are helping the businesses of the state, like the Shopping Mall, etc…

 

❤️I expect the Governor to vigorously address the LGA workers and Retirees problem. The Governor, for the first time ever in history, seem to have divided the state into two states. The workers and Retirees both in the state and LGAs should be treated as one, with love and dignity. Their salaries/pensions/gratuities/bonuses should be paid as at when due.
