The Epe Local Government Council Area of Lagos State has launched a large-scale drainage cleaning operation across various communities to mitigate flooding risks ahead of the rainy season.

 

The Chairman of the council, Princess Surah Animashaun, disclosed the development during an interview with Journalists while on inspection of affected areas in Epe.

She described the move as a proactive measure to protect lives and property, while preventing potential damages during the upcoming rainy period.

“This timely intervention is part of a broader strategy to prevent flooding during the rainy season by ensuring all drainage channels remain clear and fully operational,” Animashaun said.

She listed priority areas for immediate drainage clearance to include Popo Oba, Lagbade, and Otun Street, among others.

According to the chairman, “This reflects the council’s unwavering commitment to responsive governance and the well-being of the community.”

Animashaun urged residents to support the initiative by keeping their surroundings clean and refraining from actions that block drainage paths.

 

“This administration remains resolute in its mission to provide a safe, clean, and healthy environment for all,” she added.

She emphasised that the exercise aligns with the council’s broader agenda of promoting community welfare and ensuring environmental safety.
