LUSAKA – In a significant move for Ghana’s healthcare sector, Hon. Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, the Deputy Minister of Health, is representing the country at the 75th Session of the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Committee for Africa.

The high-level meeting in Lusaka, Zambia, brings together health ministers from 47 African nations to tackle the continent’s most pressing health challenges.

 

Dr. Ayensu-Danquah’s participation is a strategic step in advancing Ghana’s health transformation agenda, as championed by President Mahama. Her presence ensures Ghana has a seat at the table to influence regional health policy and gain valuable insights for domestic application.

Key Health Priorities on the Agenda

The forum’s agenda is focused on addressing a range of critical issues essential for a resilient and equitable health landscape in Africa. The discussions include:
* Universal Health Coverage (UHC): This central theme aims to ensure that all citizens have access to the healthcare services they need without facing financial hardship. Ghana’s engagement here is vital for strengthening its own national health insurance scheme.
