Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – Tanzanian music superstar Diamond Platnumz has reportedly tied the knot with fellow Wasafi Classic Baby (WCB) label mate, Zuchu, in a private Islamic wedding ceremony.
The news, which has circulated widely across social media and media outlets, suggests a quiet affair attended only by close family and friends, a stark contrast to the usual fanfare associated with the flamboyant artist.
While official confirmation from Diamond Platnumz or Zuchu has been somewhat nuanced, several reports and social media posts from the artists themselves hint at the union.
Taste the Goodness: EL Blends All-Natural Cold-Pressed Juices
Diamond Platnumz recently shared a striking image on Instagram, showing him in a white kanzu placing a ceremonial veil over a seated Zuchu, who was adorned in a flowing white Islamic dress. This image, along with Zuchu reportedly referring to Diamond as “mme wangu” (my hubby) after a successful dowry presentation, has fueled the marriage rumors.
Sources indicate that the traditional Islamic wedding, known as a ‘Nikkah,’ took place in April 2025 and was officiated by Sheikh Walid Kawambwa, the Regional Sheikh of Dar es Salaam. This intimate ceremony, far from the glitz often associated with celebrity weddings, has caught many fans by surprise.
BREAK DOWN
Dowry Presentation: Just recently, on June 1, 2025, it was reported that Diamond Platnumz successfully presented the dowry to Zuchu’s family (the Othman family), which was joyfully accepted. This crucial step in Islamic marriage rites further solidified the reports of their union.
Previous Declarations and Speculation: Diamond Platnumz had publicly expressed his intentions to marry Zuchu earlier in the year, during a political rally in Dodoma in January 2025. This declaration came after a period of speculation about their relationship, particularly following an incident on the Netflix reality show “Young, Famous & African” where Diamond was seen flirting with another artist, and had initially referred to Zuchu only as his artiste. Zuchu’s mother, Khadija Kopa, had previously stated that she would only acknowledge a marriage once formal steps, such as dowry payment, had been taken.
A Private Affair: The decision for a private ceremony, despite the couple’s public personas, has been noted by observers. Some speculate it could be a deliberate move for privacy, while others, given Wasafi Records’ history of strategic PR, remain slightly skeptical, wondering if a larger celebration might still be in the works.
Regardless of the ongoing public reactions and speculation, the visual evidence and reports of a successful dowry presentation strongly suggest that Tanzanian music’s power couple, Diamond Platnumz and Zuchu, have officially embarked on their marital journey under Islamic law.
