According to the Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, Shimitte Love was confirmed dead at a hospital where she was taken for medical attention.

“The husband was the one who called to say that his wife died early this morning. He also reported that he was receiving threats from the wife’s family,” Edafe revealed.

As a result of the threat claims, Pastor Love was not arrested, but rather taken into protective custody to ensure his safety while the investigation unfolds.

The situation escalated when Shimitte’s family lodged a formal complaint, alleging that her husband may have been responsible for her death. The Delta Police have since acknowledged the complaint and confirmed that a comprehensive investigation is underway.

“The family came to lodge an official complaint against the husband, suspecting foul play. However, it is only an autopsy that can reveal whether her death was natural or otherwise,” said SP Edafe.

In line with standard procedure in suspicious death cases, the police have stated that an autopsy will be conducted to determine the actual cause of death. This scientific approach is expected to bring clarity and possibly rule out or confirm suspicions of domestic violence or foul play.
