Chukwuma Linus Takes Swipe at Governor Soludo, Questions His “Monopoly of Transformative Ideas”

The race for the Anambra 2025 gubernatorial election, scheduled for November 8, 2025, continues to heat up as Chukwuma Linus, a vocal commentator, took a sharp jab at Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, accusing him of viewing himself as the “father of economics in Nigeria” with a “monopoly of transformative ideas for Anambra State.”

In a statement circulating on social media, Linus suggested that without his governorship, Soludo would remain overly self-assured about his intellectual dominance, fueling the ongoing political feud between the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This critique follows a series of heated exchanges, including Senator Uche Ekwunife, APC’s Deputy Gubernatorial Candidate, branding Soludo an “illiterate professor” and “dirtiest governor in Africa” in a viral video, while the Soludo-Ibezim Campaign Organization (SICO) accused Ekwunife and her running mate, Nicholas Ukachukwu, of presenting “fake credentials.” Linus’s remarks add to the growing tension, questioning Soludo’s transformative claims as Anambra grapples with issues like insecurity and infrastructure challenges.

Chukwuma Linus’s Critique: Challenging Soludo’s Self-Image

In his statement, Linus remarked, “If Soludo has not gotten this opportunity to govern the State, he will still think of himself as the father of economics in Nigeria and the only person with a monopoly of transformative ideas for Anambra State.” The comment appears to challenge Soludo’s reputation as a globally acclaimed economist, suggesting an inflated self-perception not fully matched by his governance record. While Linus did not align explicitly with any party, his critique resonates with opposition narratives questioning Soludo’s ability to deliver on his ambitious promises for Anambra’s transformation.

The statement, shared widely on platforms like X, comes amid a polarized campaign environment where Soludo’s achievements—such as urban renewal in Awka and Onitsha—are contrasted with criticisms of rising insecurity and unfulfilled pledges.

Linus’s comment aligns with opposition sentiments questioning Soludo’s self-styled image as Anambra’s sole visionary, adding fuel to a campaign marked by personal and policy disputes.

SICO has touted Soludo’s achievements, including urban renewal, road rehabilitation, and economic reforms, backed by awards and a 75% win in a recent bye-election. Supporters argue he inherited security challenges and has made strides through federal partnerships. However, critics like Ekwunife and Linus highlight persistent issues:

Linus’s jab at Soludo’s “monopoly of ideas” reflects skepticism about economic progress, with critics noting that Anambra’s commercial vibrancy has waned as people reportedly “run away” from the state.

The feud underscores Anambra’s high stakes as a Southeast commercial hub. With challenges like youth unemployment, erosion, and insecurity dominating voter concerns, Linus’s comment could resonate with those skeptical of Soludo’s reforms. However, its lack of specific policy critique may limit its impact compared to Ekwunife’s detailed accusations. Analysts warn that personal attacks risk overshadowing substantive issues, with one stating, “Anambra needs a vision-driven campaign, not ego clashes.”

As campaigns intensify (ending November 6), Soludo must address criticisms from Linus and Ekwunife while defending his record. The APC, led by Ukachukwu and Ekwunife, faces pressure to clarify credentials and counter APGA’s narrative. The November 8 election looms as a referendum on Soludo’s leadership.
