R&B singer Chris Brown has been remanded in custody until June 13 after being charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent. The charge stems from an alleged attack on music producer Abraham Diaw with a bottle at Tape nightclub in central London in February 2023.
During a hearing at Manchester Magistrates’ Court, prosecutor Hannah Nicholls described the incident as an “unprovoked attack with a weapon.” She stated Brown allegedly struck Mr. Diaw several times with a bottle before chasing and further assaulting him with punches and kicks, an act reportedly caught on CCTV.

Brown, 36, confirmed his name and date of birth but did not enter a plea. District Judge Joanne Hirst deemed the alleged offense too serious for her court, transferring the case to London’s Southwark Crown Court.
Brown’s bail application was denied.
He was arrested at a Manchester hotel on Thursday by Metropolitan Police detectives.
Brown’s global tour is set to begin on June 8 in The Netherlands, with a Manchester performance scheduled for June 15. The CPS has cautioned against any reporting or commentary that could prejudice the ongoing proceedings.
