Well, well, well. As the political temperature in Anambra State begins its inevitable pre-election simmer, a truly fascinating conundrum has emerged, leaving political observers (and likely, many voters) scratching their heads.
The question on everyone’s lips, as aptly posed by some recent musings, is this: How exactly will the loyalists of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) cast their ballots?

It appears the plot has thickened considerably since the Governor, in a move that can only be described as… progressive, reportedly mandated APGA faithful to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC). His reasoning? Both parties are, apparently, equally “progressive.” A harmonious political convergence, one might say!
But here’s where the real fun begins. Knowing that the ballot will likely feature not one, but two APC factions, the critical question arises: Which APC should APGA voters actually choose?
Will INEC, in a moment of existential clarity, decide to swap APGA’s traditional “cockerel” (Ókúkó) symbol for APC’s “broom”? Or are we looking at a delightful new acronym for the Anambra political dictionary: APGAPC versus the standard APC APC?
Adding another layer to this wonderfully perplexing situation, we have one APC faction reportedly operating “under IKUKUOMA Osumenyi,” while the other falls “under SOLUDO Isuofia.” So, is the marching order simply “APGA is APC and APC is APGA” – a brilliant maneuver to pre-empt any pesky court interpretations later on?
One can only imagine the conversations at the polling booths. “Nna, which broom are we sweeping with today? The one from Osumenyi or the one from Isuofia, as instructed by the Governor who says we’re all progressives anyway?”
Anambra politics, never a dull moment! We eagerly await to see how this grand fusion of “progressives” plays out on election day. May the most progressive progressive win… whichever one that is!
