Air Peace Responds to Airport Commotion: Alleges "Unruly Conduct" by Oshiomhole, Reaffirms Zero Tolerance for Violence

In a swift response to the circulating video and Senator Adams Oshiomhole’s allegations of denied boarding and alleged price gouging, Air Peace has issued official statements condemning what it describes as “unruly conduct by a prominent Nigerian politician” at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 (Zulu Hall) on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. The airline’s account sharply contrasts with the Senator’s narrative, painting a picture of a missed flight and subsequent disruptive behavior.

In a statement signed by its management and dated June 11, 2025, Air Peace “strongly condemns the unruly conduct of a prominent Nigerian politician who disrupted airport operations.” The airline asserts that the individual arrived at approximately 06:10 AM for Flight P47120, scheduled to depart Lagos for Abuja at 06:30 AM.

According to Air Peace, “In line with our standard on-time departure policy, the boarding process had closed, and the flight departed upon scheduled.”

The airline’s statement escalated the account, alleging that upon being informed of the missed flight, the politician “resorted to violence, physically assaulting our staff and forcefully barricading the terminal’s entrance.”

Air Peace further claimed the individual “went as far as sealing the entry gate and manning the access point, effectively obstructing other passengers from gaining entry into the terminal.”

This “unacceptable behavior,” Air Peace stated, “caused significant disruption to ongoing operations and affected numerous travelers scheduled for various flights.” The airline emphasized its commitment to “discipline, integrity, and respect for due process,” declaring that “No individual, no matter how influential, is above these values.”

Air Peace also noted that it “swiftly activated an operational contingency plan to board affected passengers through an alternate terminal, ensuring the continuity of their travel plans.” The airline concluded by expressing deep sadness that “such a high-profile figure displayed conduct so unbecoming and disruptive to fellow passengers and our personnel,” reiterating its “zero-tolerance stance on violence or any form of aggression against our staff and passengers.”

This official statement from Air Peace provides a direct counter-narrative to Senator Oshiomhole’s earlier claims, where he detailed being denied boarding despite online check-in, alleging that the airline was reselling seats at inflated prices and causing widespread passenger distress. Oshiomhole had recounted intervening on behalf of other stranded passengers, and even financially assisting a woman who was asked to pay an additional fare to board a later flight.

The diverging accounts from both parties highlight the complexities and frequent disputes that arise in air travel, particularly concerning boarding procedures, delays, and passenger conduct. The incident is likely to spark further public debate on customer service in Nigerian airlines, passenger rights, and the conduct of public officials.

As the story unfolds, public attention will remain focused on how these differing narratives are addressed and whether regulatory bodies will intervene to provide clarity and ensure accountability.
