Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has firmly denied any intentions of defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), reassuring party stakeholders of his unwavering commitment. This declaration follows a wave of defections that recently saw Delta State, including Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Vice Presidential candidate Ifeanyi Okowa, joining the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Adeleke, speaking at a stakeholders meeting held at the Government House Banquet Hall, addressed the rumors head-on. “My people, party elders and chiefs, I declare before you today that I am not defecting to APC or any other political party. I remain in PDP. Ignore any fake news,” he stated, as relayed by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.

The stakeholders present at the meeting responded by endorsing Adeleke for a second term as the PDP’s sole candidate in the 2026 election, acknowledging his delivery of “dividends of democracy and good governance across all sectors of Osun society.” They also applauded the governor and other party leaders for their steadfastness in rejecting overtures from the APC.
The recent defection of Delta State has reduced the PDP’s control to 10 states, while the APC now holds 23.
