Accra Hosts Global Water Dances 2025: A Powerful Call for Water Conservation and Sanitation

The vibrant city of Accra today played host to the Global Water Dances 2025 event, a powerful convergence of art, advocacy, and community action dedicated to safeguarding one of humanity’s most vital resources: water.

 

The event, held in collaboration with the Children Empowerment Foundation, brought together diverse groups to emphasize the critical importance of Sustainable Development Goal 6 – ensuring clean water and sanitation for all.

A key highlight of the day was an impassioned address by Mr. Anthony Kojo Bosomtwe, Program Manager for the Children Empowerment Foundation.

Addressing a gathering of esteemed guests, fellow advocates, and enthusiastic participants, Mr. Bosomtwe underscored the profound significance of water in daily life.

“As we observe Sustainable Development Goal 6, ensuring clean water and sanitation for all, we’re reminded of the critical role water plays in our daily lives,” Mr. Bosomtwe stated.

 

He drew a poignant connection to Ghana’s upcoming rainy season, emphasizing the urgent need to protect the nation’s water bodies and infrastructure. He cited the tragic events of June 3rd at Circle, where choked gutters led to a devastating gas explosion, as a stark reminder of the consequences of neglecting water management.

The Global Water Dances 2025 event utilized the universal languages of art, music, and dance to raise crucial awareness about waste segregation and water conservation.

 

Audiences were captivated by the dynamic performances of Accra Dances Movement, ChaleVibez, and the Children’s Parliament, whose energy and passion resonated throughout the venue.

“Today, we dance for a cause – Nuji Wala, Water Is Life!” Mr. Bosomtwe declared, inviting attendees to join in the celebration and pledge their support for sustainable water management. He urged everyone present to become active advocates for change, encouraging them to share their thoughts and pledges with event cameras.
