IGP Egbetokun to Meet Protesting Retired Officers as Police Warn Against Saboteurs

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has pledged to personally engage with retired police officers currently protesting in Abuja over inadequate retirement benefits.

This assurance was delivered by the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, who met with the aggrieved retirees and revealed that arrangements have been concluded for the IGP to meet with them at the Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

However, the peaceful protest risks being derailed as certain individuals with hidden agendas have reportedly attempted to allegedly hijack the movement. These elements are allegedly discouraging dialogue and inciting disorder among the retirees.

In response, the Nigeria Police Force has appealed to all genuine stakeholders among the retirees to remain calm, law-abiding, and open to the peaceful resolution process underway. The IGP reaffirmed his commitment to addressing their concerns with dignity, respect, and constructive engagements.
